Day 3: A day of celebration
Early wake up. I was rushed to the Tanzanian embassy to get my visa for tomorrow’s trip. By the time we got back to the residence, the garden was swarming with personnel from the Hilton Hotel catering service.
The celebration began shortly after noon with guests pouring in through the front gate. It was everything you’d expect from such an event. Diplomats, ambassadors, ministers, foreigners and friends. Without going into details, the day was a success. Excellent food, good turn-up (over three hundred people) despite the fact that it was organised during the Eid al-Adha Muslim holiday. The party lasted well into the night with many interesting conversations and insights into the local culture and global issues.
Tomorrow we leave for Tanzania. Our trip will last for ten days and I doubt I’ll be able to write anything until I come back. We’ll be traveling to various different locations around the country so wish us luck! This should be an interesting trip

Hi Niko, good to hear your flight went ok and you’re safely at your destination! We’re reading your posts (and envying a bit:), so please keep writing! It’s freezing here at the office, at Maarit’s desk only 18 degrees… so enjoy the warmth, have fun and relax!!!
Cheers, Mari
